About me

Hello, my name is Josep Lluís Berral-García (that is catalan for "Joseph Louis"), and I am from Sants (this is in Barcelona, Spain).

  • After finishing my Full Engineering degree (2002 to 2007), I've been working in the LARCA Research Group (prof. Ricard Gavaldà) and the HPC/BSC-Autonomic Research Group (prof. Jordi Torres), focusing on Cloud/Multi-DataCenter Computing, Data Mining and Energy Management, while finishing my Master degree (2007-2008) and my Ph.D. degree (2008-2013). Currently I am at Barcelona Supercomputing Center as a post-doc (with Dr. David Carrera), also at the BSC-Microsoft Research center (2014).

  • Further, I've stayed 6 months in Rutgers University (New Jersey), at the Dark-Lab Research Group (prof. Ricardo Bianchini), working with solar and wind powered DataCenters.

  • I've been teaching Information retrieval at the Faculty of Informatics of Barcelona (2011); also Digital Systems, Object Oriented Design, Computer Engineering and Data Bases at the Open University of Spain (2013-2017); also the Data Mining Security* at the UPC-VIU joint Master on CyberSecurity (2016-2017) [* ongoing].

  • Aside of academia and research, I've been working temporarily at Systelab Technologies (Werfen Group), as Software Quality Engineer. Also I attempted to set up a project on digital content delivery, at "Digital Editions Episoda", as CTO and Founder.

Other stuff
  • I've been involved in things related to press/magazine edition and ilustration, as contributing with l'Oasi (The Informatics School Magazine), from 2005-2014 (Chief Editor from 2008 to 2010). Further I pretend to be a cartoonist, and sketch some web-comic strips, like JRS Comics. Also I like stuff related to Operating Systems, like coding low-level software for handheld videogame systems like Nintendo GameBoy Advance.

If you want to know more about me, just following these lines you can find my Curriculum Vitae, also you can contact me!
